REME HALO® Whole-Home Air Purifier — Installed Across Central New Jersey

Most air purifier pages online will tell you the product solves everything. This one won’t.

The REME HALO is a whole-home, in-duct air purifier that installs directly into the ductwork you already have — no filters to sit in your living room, no white noise, nothing to plug in. It’s a real piece of equipment that does real things. It also isn’t magic, and there are problems it won’t solve.

We’re a 30-year HVAC company in Sayreville. We’d rather tell you exactly what this does and let you decide.

Certified safe on ozone — by California, not by the manufacturer

Here’s the question you should ask about any air purifier that uses ionization: does it make ozone?

It’s a fair question. Ozone is a lung irritant, and the air-purifier industry has a genuine credibility problem here — independent researchers have caught ionization devices producing significant ozone while their marketing claimed zero.

The REME-HALO (model REME-H) is certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), which independently tests in-duct air cleaning devices against the country’s strictest ozone standard: a hard limit of 0.050 ppm. It passed, and it’s listed on CARB’s public registry — you can look it up yourself without taking our word or RGF’s.

That’s a government regulator’s verification, not a press release. If a contractor can’t tell you whether the unit they’re selling you is CARB-certified, that tells you something.

What the REME HALO actually does

The unit uses dual ionizers and REME-LED technology mounted inside your ductwork. As your HVAC system moves air, it distributes ionized hydrogen peroxide through the house.

What it’s designed to address:

• Airborne particulates — dust, dander, pollen, mold spores
• Microbes — bacteria, mold, and viruses
• Surface germs — the ions travel with the air, so they reach surfaces a filter never touches

What the testing showed: In manufacturer-sponsored laboratory testing at Innovative Bioanalysis Laboratories, conducted in a sealed 1,280 cu. ft. chamber, the REME HALO reported a 99.9% reduction of SARS-CoV-2.

We’ll be straight with you about that number: it’s a lab chamber result from research funded by the manufacturer. Your house is not a sealed chamber. It has doors, pets, and a front hall. Real-world performance in an occupied home is going to be less than a controlled lab result — that’s true of every air purifier ever tested, from every brand. Treat it as evidence the technology does something, not as a promise about your living room.

What it will NOT do — including wildfire smoke

It is not a wildfire smoke solution. We want to be extremely clear about this, because as of July 2026 New Jersey is sitting under Canadian wildfire smoke and there are companies who will happily blur this line.

Wildfire smoke is primarily fine particulate matter (PM2.5). The defense against fine particles is filtration and air changes — not ionization. If smoke is your concern, the honest answer is:

1. Close your windows and run your system.
2. Set your thermostat fan to “ON,” not “AUTO,” so air keeps cycling through the filter. The EPA notes that a continuous fan plus a good filter can cut indoor PM2.5 by roughly 50%.
3. Upgrade to a MERV 13 filter if your system can handle one — most can, provided you change it on schedule. This is the actual fix. Ask us first if your system is older; too much filter restriction on the wrong equipment chokes airflow and costs you a blower.
4. Run a portable HEPA in one room and keep the door shut. The EPA calls this a “clean room.”

Notice that three of those four cost you almost nothing and none of them require you to buy a REME HALO. If somebody’s answer to wildfire smoke is “buy our air purifier,” walk away.

Also outside its lane: the REME HALO is not a substitute for your air filter, it doesn’t fix humidity, and it won’t solve a ventilation problem or a mold source. If you have standing water or a duct leak pulling in attic air, the answer is to fix that — not to add a purifier on top of it.

So What Does Reme Halo Actually Do?

In our experience across Middlesex, Monmouth, and Union County homes, the REME HALO makes the most sense for:

• Households with allergy or asthma sufferers dealing with year-round dust, dander, and pollen
• Homes with pets, where dander and odor are constant rather than seasonal
• Multi-generational homes where somebody’s immune system is worth protecting
• Anyone who wants whole-home coverage without a portable unit in every room

It makes less sense if you’ve got one specific problem in one specific room — a portable HEPA is cheaper and better for that. And it’s the wrong first move if your filtration is neglected or your ductwork leaks; fix the fundamentals first. We’ll tell you if that’s your situation, even though it’s a smaller ticket for us.

Straight answers (FAQ)

Does the REME HALO produce ozone?

It’s CARB-certified, meaning independent testing confirmed it emits below California’s 0.050 ppm limit — the strictest standard in the country. It’s listed on CARB’s public registry, verifiable without trusting us.

Will it help with the wildfire smoke over New Jersey?

Not meaningfully — and we’re not going to pretend otherwise. Smoke is fine particulate; the fix is filtration and air changes. Close your windows, set the fan to “ON,” and get a MERV 13 in there. See above.

Is it better than a MERV 13 filter?

It’s not a competitor to your filter, it’s a complement. The filter catches particles; the REME HALO targets microbes and reaches surfaces. If you only do one thing, do the filter. It’s cheaper and it’s the foundation.

Do I still need to change my filter?

Yes. Absolutely. Anyone who tells you a purifier replaces filter maintenance is selling, not advising.

Does it work on COVID?

Manufacturer-sponsored chamber testing reported 99.9% SARS-CoV-2 reduction in a sealed 1,280 cu. ft. space. That’s real testing, and it’s also a lab, and it was paid for by the manufacturer. We’d rather you know both halves.

How long does installation take?

It installs into your existing ductwork — typically a single short visit, no living space used, no ongoing noise.
